- A model railway is used at this early stage. It helps to learn about motion. Power is from a power pack which includes a voltage changer which sets the speed, and a switch to control train direction. This is not to be used while the train is running. Why?
- A cog drive system links the motor to the wheels. The motor turns the gears that turn the wheels and drive the train down the railway lines when it is powered by electricity. Simple!
- The train's wheels contact point with the rail is small. Train wheels are surprisingly hard to understand and you are shown why.
- Routes to specific stations depend on understanding points.
- More than several crashes occured with other pupils.

- You can take on jobs such as driver, station master, porter, passengers including disability passengers, people meeting passengers, dealing with item 5, and so the list goes on.
