I'm Alan Harrison.

1. "Soft science" is any of the specialized fields or disciplines, as psychology, sociology, anthropology, or political science, that interpret human behavior, institutions, society, etc., on the basis of scientific investigation for which it may be difficult to establish strictly measurable criteria.

3. I chose social psychology and worked in the tourism industry.  My first university lectureship was at Surrey University in 1974.  I have taught and been an examiner within a postgraduate course on Educational Management via the Open University.

9. I retired in 2000 and took up hard science in a big way.  Recently, I started looking at artificial intelligence in the context of spacetime application.

11. All my life I have been interested in the stars and why they exist. On this blog I  share my passion for the subject.

13. The Blog is intended to give you support when helping your children learn about primary school science.

15. Fascinated at school by a compass point being turned by a nearby low voltage electric wire, I went on to a more than a passing interest in astrophysics and astronomy.  However, down to earth factors led to social psychology.

17. I was a Primary School Governor when my daughters were at school c 1976.   I taught science topics within the present children's blogs and websites on an informal basis over a period of three years.

19. Parents may like to know that, primarily, I am an educationalist: i.e. a person who has a special knowledge of the principles and methods of teaching.

21. That also requires being an educationist who is a specialist in the theory of education.
